The SAFA Regional League that was expected to kick-off in January was halted till further notice. This was a message sent by SAFA to all regional teams playing in the league.
The adjusted Lockdown level 3 has halted a lot of events, among them has been the opening of the lower leagues of soccer, Local Football Association (LFA), locally and outside Waterberg region.
The lockdown levels stopped all games since level 5 and later restrictions were eased, including the allowing of teams to go to training until the numbers peaked once more, resulting in a level 3 adjustment.
Under this adjustment, no teams were allowed to play or even practice until further notice.
Last year top teams were forced to be pushed for playoffs due to league games stoppage.
‘In Waterberg, Modimolle Terrors went to play playoffs at Polokwane and came in second position while Sekhukhune’s Denilton Callies FC came in position one and both teams were promoted and will now play in the ABC Motsepe League come the re-opening of the league.’ said Pat Seema Provincial SAFA league manager.
