With barely two years in the hot seat, Bela Bela municipal manager has resigned just before his term of office ends.
Michael Sello Makhubela who was appointed on the 1st of April 2018 parted ways with Bela Bela Municipality on Monday 1 March 2021.
Municipal Communication Officer Kabelo Mosito said in a virtual Special council meeting held on the 25th of February 2021, “the municipality accepted his resignation and appointed Corporate Services Manager Ms Jamela Selapyane as the Acting Municipal Manager and the Manager for Strategic Support Mr Tsinyane Mothapo at the Acting Senior Manager for Corporate Services”.
‘The acting appointments will be effective until the vacant position of the Municipal manager is filled,’ Mosito said.
He further said that the municipality wishes Makhubela the best of luck in his future endeavours and reassured the community about its commitment to service delivery.
Makhubela ‘s reason to resign now is not yet known as his term of office was still far ahead from ending. He however, had been challenged by many residents for not investigating maladministration by the municipality.
In previous years, there had been allegations that the former MM was linked to the controversial multimillion tender of the SUNFA stadium, which remains incomplete to date.
